 Office Business Applications

Office Business Applications (OBAs) are a new breed of composite applications that combine the Microsoft Office system with information and processes defined in the line-of-business (LOB) systems to help businesses unlock the value in their LOB systems. OBAs help to bridge the results gap that currently exists between line of business systems and end-user productivity tools by providing a seamless and integrated end to end user experience.

In this session we will discuss the benefits of OBAs for your end users, the architecture of an OBA, and review the capabilities of 2007 Office System Interoperability with Visual Studio 2008 using Visual Studio Tools for Office (VSTO). During the review of VSTO’s capabilities we will dive into some demos, with code, that show some of the interaction with Word, Outlook, and Excel. Don’t let the code scare you away, this is a business friendly presentation, where we will show you how your .NET developers will be able to leverage their existing skill sets to quickly deliver robust solutions to your end users.

Virtualization

Virtualization is one of the hot topics this year.  With significant increases in performance of the current generation of server hardware, with quad-core processors, high memory capacity, and Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) drives, much of the processing power on a server goes unused.  Virtualization allows you to take advantage of this processing power by running several virtualized servers on one physical host.  If you’re considering virtualization or are new to this technology, this session will get you up to speed.
