Property Record Information System Manager (PRISM) for Southern Company (NYSE:SO)
Business Problem
Alabama Power Company (APCO), a subsidiary of Southern Company, owns 22 generation plants and over 75,000 miles of power lines. APCO delivers electricity to 1.3 million customers spanning 44,500 square miles of territory. During the last decade APCO has experienced tremendous growth, which has given the company many new challenges. One of the biggest challenges faced by the Corporate Real Estate department was researching and retrieving information related to property. After attempting to face this challenge internally, APCO contracted Computer Technology Solutions, Inc. (CTS) to build a custom application to meet their needs.

Solution
Developed a single unified application that manages documents and information related to fee-owned land, transmission lines, distribution lines, land sales, and leasing.
Allows end users throughout the organization to access clearly organized property information including property ownership type, location, legal description, and signer.
Scanned source documents for property records. The scanned image is available to system users for data verification, signature validation, and additional property detail.
